WATCH: Man allegedly fled scene after backing into female… woman transported to CCH with injuries to her lower extremities… [HN VIDEO]
HYANNIS – As you will see and hear in the following HN Video, Barnstable Police and Hyannis Rescue responded to reports of a hit-and-run pedestrian accident that occurred in the parking lot of the Dunkin Donuts on West Main Street shortly after 1:00 p.m. this afternoon.
According Lieutenant Nagorka of the Hyannis Fire Department, a woman, estimated to be in her 60s, was transported to Cape Cod Hospital with injuries to her lower extremities. Her injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.
A relative of the woman said she was 62-years-old and that she was standing outside near a curb in the parking lot when she was struck by a minivan which left the scene…
Police eventually caught up to and stopped the suspect vehicle. The male driver of the minivan adamantly denied knowing he had hit someone.
Police drove by the traffic stop with witnesses from the scene. According to radio transmissions, one police officer can be heard saying, “She say’s affirmative, hundred percent,” in reference to the witness riding in her vehicle positively identifying the suspect.
According to sources, the driver of the silver minivan will be summoned into court on the criminal charge of leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury.
