MAN ARRESTED FOR BREAKING INTO THREE SEPARATE RESIDENCES ON SAME DAY, THE LAST ONE AFTER JUST BEING BAILED OUT! [HN PHOTOS]
HYANNIS – [HN PHOTO NOTES] – At around 4:20 p.m. this afternoon – Saturday, February 24, 2024 – Barnstable Police patrol units responded to the vicinity of West Hyannisport Circle for a report of a male wearing a black sweatshirt and jeans, who appeared to be under the influence of something, prowling around someone’s yard, picking up “random stuff.”
HN was nearby and arrived in the vicinity shortly after several squad cars. While turning into the West Hyannisport Circle neighborhood, a woman came out into her front yard, flagging down a nearby cruiser and stating someone had just broken into her home. HN quickly parked and began taking the above photos…
The woman and her daughter could be seen in the front doorway as Barnstable Police Patrolman Adam Ruggieri already had the young man in custody and was in the process of escorting him out of the home.
The woman in the doorway appeared overcome with shock and anger (understandably), as she shouted at the man being led away in cuffs, “Are you [f***ing] crazy!” She then told officers the intruder said he was looking for drugs. Still in disbelief she asked officers, “How is he out of jail? I just watched him getting arrested a couple of hours ago! – He just literally broke into my house!” She continued angrily, while apologizing for raising her voice, “I’m sorry, I’m super upset!”
The young man was barefoot. When officers asked where his shoes were, he replied, “They’re in a house.” He then went on mumbling about his shoes as officers stuffed him into the backseat of one of their squad cars. At the time of this report, it remained uncertain whether officers were able to locate his shoes.
A neighbor approached, expressing his frustration and concern about the suspect also being arrested earlier in the day for another alleged Breaking and Entering, just two doors down from the current B&E scene.
The suspect was said to be high on something, according to sources. He was handcuffed, searched and transported to Barnstable Police Headquarters.
At BPD Headquarters, Sergeant Thomas Bird confirmed to HN the suspect had also been arrested earlier in the day for the same thing. The suspect was arrested this morning and charged with two counts of Breaking and Entering into another two residences in the very same West Hyannisport Circle neighborhood, sometime after 8:20 a.m.
The suspect was then bailed out and released from police custody around 1:00 p.m. today. From there, he allegedly made his way back to the same neighborhood, lost his shoes and got high along the way, before being confronted inside another home just two doors down from the last one he had allegedly broken into.
At the time of this report – around 7:30 p.m. – the suspect remains in Barnstable Police custody, charged with at least three separate B&E charges all told.
According to Sergeant Bird, he’s definitely not being let loose a second time… and will be held in custody until he is arraigned Monday in Barnstable District Court.
Patrolman Ruggieri was still working on the arrest paperwork at the time of this report. And HN will be updating this report with the suspect’s name, along with other details as soon as they become available. [PLEASE CHECK BACK FOR UPDATES – DEVELOPING]
