*** WATCH *** Barnstable Police searching for injured driver after finding heavily damaged vehicle smashed into tree… [HN VIDEO]
MARSTONS MILLS – [DEVELOPING] – There was a heavily damaged vehicle and no driver in sight when the first police officers arrived at a single car into a tree this morning shortly before 2:00 a.m..
The crash happened on Route 149 about a mile south of Race Lane.
The first officers on scene began searching the general area for the missing driver, very likely injured because there was “blood all over the car,” according to radio transmissions.
Police checked with Cape Cod hospital as a K9 unit made its way to the scene. There was a steady rain and the K9 unit searched up and down the street, making its way in and out of thick vegetation.
The registered owner of the vehicle lives less than a mile away and officers checked the residence after finding an open sliding glass door, according to radio transmissions…
At the time of this report – 4:55 a.m. – the driver remains unaccounted for…
The crash is being investigated by the Barnstable Police Department. The Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office assisted with photographs.
