Police track down vehicle that allegedly fled two separate early morning collisions… [HN PHOTOS/AUDIO]
HYANNIS – As you will hear in the following HN Video, Barnstable patrol officers responded to West Main Street for a hit and run accident shortly after midnight, this morning. Dispatch had a basic description of the suspect vehicle, a small gray sedan, and the first patrolman on scene quickly updated that description with where the collision damage should be located.
A short time later, while searching the area for a small gray sedan with driver side mirror damage, officers were notified about a second collision in the parking lot of the nearby Shaw’s Supermarket on West Main Street. The caller told dispatch that his vehicle had just been struck by a small gray sedan, that also didn’t stick around in that case. The search continued, but now officers had a license plate number to work with – provided by a witness to the second crash – which led officers to a nearby address on Wolley Road.
Moments later, a patrolman located the suspect vehicle in the driveway of a residence on Wolley Road.
Police initiated an investigation and the Sheriff’s crime scene investigation unit was called in to take photos.
As you will hear in the following HN Video, the patrolman requested an “AR,” or arrest number.
According Barnstable Police Sergeant St. Onge, the incident is still active and ongoing, but at this point it appears the lead officer has enough to summons an individual for yet unspecified motor vehicle charges.
