Accidents, scuffles and skirmishes… including “music and wonderful roses, they tell me, in sweet fragrant meadows of dawn and dew…”
HN NOTES: Last evening during the overnight it was the usual action when it came to police and rescue calls across the mid-Cape.
Earlier on, at around 8:48 p.m., the Barnstable Police and Hyannis Fire Departments responded to a single motorcycle crash at the intersection of Charles Street and Grove Street in Hyannis. According to radio transmissions, Cape Cod Hospital was placed on trauma alert for a 35-year-old male, described as being unresponsive while being assessed for injuries. (HN was unable to respond to this particular scene and will provide official updates as they become available.)
Then at around 9:50 p.m., C.O.M.M. F.D. responded to a residence near the intersection of Phinney’s Lane and Great Marsh Road in Centerville, for a man seriously injured after some type of fall, possibly from a deck. The male patient, described as being 58-years-old, was airlifted by helicopter from the airfield in Marstons Mills to an off-Cape trauma center for a possible skull fracture. (Additional details were unavailable at the time of this report.)
For the remainder of the overnight, it was the typical type of calls for this time of year, many alcohol and drug related, including fisticuffs outside of bars, and one call where the Barnstable Police responded to help rescue with an intoxicated female at a residence in Centerville, who possibly may have had some type of prescription medication slipped into her drink, according to the initial call dialogue. She was eventually transported to CCH but it was unclear whether the call turned out to be as initially reported.
And as you can see in the above HN photo, alcohol was reportedly a factor after a fight in progress brought multiple Yarmouth Police cruisers and an ambulance to a hotel in West Yarmouth early this morning at around 2:00 a.m.. The fight reportedly involved two intoxicated males. One male was taken into custody and transported back to YPD Headquarters for booking. A second male was checked out by rescue but was not transported to hospital.
Overall, it was a typical summer evening for the mid-Cape area. HN was unavailable for the normal coverage earlier on, but will update the above stories as official details become available. [DEVELOPING]

HN EPILOGUE: And then of course there was “music and wonderful roses, they tell me, in sweet fragrant meadows of dawn and dew…”
… but then you probably already knew all about that, especially if you didn’t happen to catch a glimpse of HN in your general vicinity last evening.
