Man transported to CCH after pole snapped in Marstons Mills… donut tire may have been cause… [HN PHOTOS]

MARSTONS MILLS – A man was transported to Cape Cod Hospital after the vehicle he was driving left the roadway and snapped a utility pole early this morning.
His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
At about 12:45 a.m., Barnstable Police and a COMM Rescue ambulance responded to the Newtown Road near the intersection with Olde Homestead Drive for a report of a single vehicle crash into a utility pole, with airbag deployment.
Upon arrival patrol officers noted that the pole was snapped at the base and would need to be replaced.
As you will see in the top HN photo, the vehicle was using a temporary donut tire and the driver reportedly felt it buckle while making the curve, just prior to leaving the roadway.
The Barnstable Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.
