*** WATCH *** Shots fired in Marstons Mills after female assault victim showed up at neighbors… [DEVELOPING]
MARSTONS MILLS – [DEVELOPING] – The entire scene lasted for hours. At around 8:30 p.m., police responded to an address on Captain Studley Road for a female who knocked on a neighbor’s door, saying she had been assaulted. The woman was treated by COMM FD. Her current condition remains unknown.
Police officers then went to nearby 36 Captain Baker Road where a male came out of the house with a firearm pointed at his head, according radio transmissions. Moments later, officers were forced to retreat and take cover after shots were reportedly fired.
The suspect was described as 50-year-old male, likely armed with an “assault-style rifle.” Police lost sight of the suspect and were no longer certain of his whereabouts. Additional units and SWAT personal responded. Streets and surrounding neighborhoods were completely shut down. It was a harrowing situation. Officers taking cover with absolutely no idea where the armed suspect had gone.
A state police helicopter responded and was able to spot the suspect in the yard at 36 Captain Baker Road. At around 11:30 p.m., a police commander announced that it was now a “confirmed code 30” and that all units could stand down. Sources on scene reported the suspect deceased.
At the time of this report – 3:00 a.m. – the incident is still actively being investigated by Barnstable and state police detectives.
