*** WATCH *** Man in protective custody after telling police they had guns in the house and “The Cartel” was coming over to confront them…
MARSTONS MILLS – As you will hear in the following HN Video, a man was taken into protective custody after reportedly calling the Barnstable Police, informing them they had guns in the house and that “The Cartel” was coming over to confront them. The man’s father was sleeping when the call was made, according to radio transmissions. And the father was reportedly armed when he started learning about the “situation,” and was reluctant to put the gun away until he could be sure it was the actual police ordering him out of his house.
HN NOTE: One police source told HN that there is an actual ongoing elaborate scam where people have been threatened by scammers who say they are “The Cartel.” It’s uncertain if that was the actual case last night at this particular address in Marstons Mills. A COMM FD ambulance responded and staged as safe distance away as multiple BPD squad cars arrived to provide back up.
The situation ended peacefully after all the guns were put away, according to radio transmissions… but the man who initially called police was handcuffed and taken back to police headquarters in protective custody.
The Barnstable Police have become somewhat familiar with the man who called, and I’m told they are investigating and taking steps to address the issue. No further details were available at the time of this report.
The following HN Video highlights some of the police radio audio, along with shots from the scene…
