The following media statement is from Chief Scott W. Carline of the Mashpee Police Department:
On February 21, 2021 at approximately 1:45 A.M., the Mashpee Police Department responded to a single vehicle accident on Great Neck Road North in the area of Lowell Road. The vehicle was travelling northbound when the driver lost control of the vehicle striking a utility pole. The sole occupant, a 27 year-old male with an address out of East Falmouth, Massachusetts was subsequently transported via med-flight to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. The crash is currently under investigation by the Mashpee Police Department and the Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Council Crash Reconstruction Team.

INITIAL HN REPORT:
MASHPEE, Massachusetts – [DEVELOPING] – A male driver was ejected from a SUV after it struck a utility pole and rolled-over into a second utility pole in the area of 233 Great Neck Road North early this morning.
As you will hear in the following HN Video, the driver, and sole occupant of the vehicle, was immediately transported to an impromptu landing zone set up in front of the Mashpee Fire Department. From there the patient was loaded into a Boston Medflight helicopter and airlifted to an off-Cape trauma center.
Back at the crash scene, Great Neck Road North needed to be completely closed down as an accident reconstruction team was reportedly summoned to investigate. A member of the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit responded to assist with photos of the crash, including tire marks leading up to it. Eversource crews also responded to repair both snapped utility poles.
This is a developing story and details regarding the patient and his current condition were unavailable at the time of this report.
The Mashpee Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.
