BARNSTABLE – According to officials, Bruce Henrique, age 24, of Eastham pleaded guilty to forcible rape and other charges yesterday in Barnstable Superior Court. His victim was only 14 years old at the time.
Henrique was sentenced to 8 to 10 years in prison and is now incarcerated at MCI Cedar Junction in Walpole. Henrique also will have 15 years probation after his term in prison. He will also have to register as a sex offender…
Henrique reportedly pleaded guilty to the following charges:
2 Counts of Rape with Force; 2 Counts of Indecent A&B on a Person 14 Years or Over;
Enticing a Child Under 16; and Dissemination of Obscene Material to A Minor.
For some of those involved in this case, the guilty plea and swift conviction was a huge relief because they wanted closure for the victim and her family… and they also didn’t want to ever see the child called to the witness stand.
HN was at the scene back on June 24, 2015. Police had been out looking for the 14-year-old girl after her mom found her bike abandoned at the end of Pine Ave in Hyannis and became very worried.
Shortly after police met the worried mom, her missing daughter came walking down the hill on Harvard Street toward the intersection with Pine Ave. The girl told her mom she had just been raped as her mom started walking to meet her. The mom was overcome with grief, crouching to the ground in emotional pain, immediately realizing her child was just the victim of an unthinkable crime.
It was from that point that our Barnstable Police Department began their investigation, asking HN to hold off on the story until they got their man… and they remarkably had their man, Bruce Henrique, in custody within a matter of hours…
HN NOTE: Now that the victim’s predator is sentenced and behind bars, HN asks everyone to keep this young teenage girl and her family in their hearts and prayers. HN asks that the public does whatever it takes to protect this child’s identity. Some people may have inside info or ideas as to the victim’s identity… and HN asks that you don’t disclose that info in comments on this page or on Facebook, or anywhere else for that matter…
As an aside, and perhaps just one more reason to keep this girl and her family in your prayers, is that they recently lost their dog suddenly and tragically. This tight local Hyannis family have had some very trying times to say the least.

The following is the actual BPD press statement from June 25, 2015 (HN video of the crime scene and arraignment is at bottom of this page):
On Wednesday June 24, 2015 at approximately 8PM, Officers from the Barnstable Police Department were called to the area of Pine Ave. Hyannis for a missing 14 year old juvenile female. Upon arriving in the area, patrol officers met with the missing girl’s mother, who had located her daughters bicycle by the side of the road. Shortly thereafter, the missing juvenile came walking down the road and reported that she had been raped. The young girl was transported from the scene to Cape Cod Hospital by Hyannis Rescue.
Detective Meaghan Cunningham and Detective Kevin Connolly followed up the investigation with the young female victim at the hospital. At CCH, detectives were able to discover that the victim and suspect had been communicating online through Facebook and SnapChat for several weeks. The victim, however, reported that this evening was the first time she had met the suspect. The victim was able to positively identify the suspect as Bruce Henrique, a 24 year old male from Eastham, MA. The juvenile victim reported that Henrique had picked her up in his SUV and drove her to the nearby Oak Grove Cemetery in Hyannis, where she was raped. The victim reported that after the sexual assault, Henrique drove her back to the area near her bike and dropped her off.
Upon further investigation, Detective Connolly was able to discover through computer forensics that the victim had informed Henrique on numerous occasions that she was only 14 years old; however, Henrique sent her multiple nude photos of himself in a state of arousal.
On Thursday evening June 25, Eastham Police Department assisted Barnstable Detectives in the arrest of Bruce Henrique near his home. Henrique was brought to the Barnstable Police Department where he admitted to picking up the 14 year old juvenile and driving her to the cemetery on June 24th.
Henrique was charged with the following:
3 Counts of Rape of A Child Under 16; 2 Counts of Indecent A&B on a Person 14 Years or Over;
Enticing a Child Under 16; and Dissemination of Obscene Material to A Minor.
