UPDATE: According to WXTK’s Ninettet Sosa, Kenneth McGay, age 23, of Hyannis pleaded not guilty to two counts of Assault and Battery Causing Serious Bodily Injury and one count each of Mayhem, Assault and Battery and Assault to Murder.

UPDATE – 3/12/16 – 11:30PM: The suspect has been identified as Kenneth McGay, age 23… The victim, last said to be in critical condition, is a 30-year-old male…
UPDATE – 3/12/16 – 10:00PM: According to various sources, this is still a very active investigation. Names have not been officially released because of the nature of the investigation. The suspect is still in custody at Barnstable Police Headquarters as the investigation unfolds. The victim is still fighting for life and was reportedly placed on a ventilator at one point. The victim’s condition was described as critical at one point… and it’s unknown if there has been any improvement in his condition in recent hours. As of right now, the suspect is being charged with the felony of Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon. He may be subject to additional charges depending on what happens with the victim.
As you can see in the footage, there were apparently witnesses to various parts of last night’s violence. “Word on the street,” is there may have been two stages to last night’s violence. It’s important to note, however, that the investigation is ongoing and that investigators have not released any official information or conclusions regarding what actually occurred.
Right now the investigation is in the hands of the DA’s Office.

Barnstable Police are investigating a gruesome crime scene at 273 Winter Street. A man was found on the floor in a pool of blood with major head injuries. Police walked the victim’s blood-covered male roommate out in handcuffs. He had blood on his hands, forearms, jeans…
According to sources, the suspect said he was defending himself… that he had been assaulted with a sword. The suspect reportedly struck the victim in the head with a baseball bat… The victim was then allegedly struck another 5 to 6 times in the head with the bat… it’s uncertain whether the victim was down when this allegedly happened. The victim was on the floor when police entered the residence.
As you’ll hear in the video, police gave the suspect orders to get down on his stomach as they secured him in handcuffs.
On the way to the ambulance, the male victim was motionless with severe head trauma. There was a massive amount of blood loss. His face and skull were heavily damaged, consistent with numerous heavy blows from a blunt object.
The investigation is ongoing. Barnstable and state police detectives were still at the scene at the time of this report… as late as 4:30AM…
Police have not yet released official details.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
