More HN Photos From the Night Before: Snazzy Shoes; Swatting Call

ABOVE: Around 2 a.m. Saturday, a Barnstable Police patrolman tried to stop a white sedan with Connecticut plates traveling eastbound on Iyannough Road near the Yarmouth line. The driver eventually pulled into the parking lot of a closed package store and appeared to possibly strike a parking curb. The adult male driver looked unsteady during field sobriety tests and was arrested for operating under the influence of liquor. He was reportedly in town for a wedding — which may explain the snazzy shoes and sleek attire. He remained fully cooperative with officers on scene.
HN Reminder: The initial details contained in the above report are based on radio transmissions and information from police sources. The defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

ABOVE: Swatting Call
Around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Barnstable Police officers responded to Kimber Woods Apartments on Route 132 after an anonymous male caller claimed he was schizophrenic and had possibly just shot his three family members. The apartment listed in the call had a history of domestic incidents. Heavily armed officers approached on foot, already suspecting a hoax but treating the call as genuine. Unable to reconnect with the anonymous number, they reached the current occupants through a legitimate contact in department records. Two residents were called out while officers conducted a quick search of the residence for any signs of a crime scene. It proved to be a hoax — a classic “swatting” call.
