NICE SAVE: Challenging Wellfleet fire… no hydrants… no water… team effort… [VIDEO]
WELLFLEET – Multiple FDs teamed up supplying water to a remote Wellfleet house/property fire today…
At about 3:40PM, firefighters responded to 285 Old Wharf Road for a working house fire. The fire had also extended to the outside property…
The cause of the fire at the Wellfleet vacation home was unknown at the time of this report. A source told HN that the owners of the property were recently back for a weekend visit…
The challenging part was the fact the remote location had no fire hydrants or nearby water supply. Water needed to be tanked in and poured into a makeshift reservoir.
Resources from Wellfleet, Eastham, Truro, Provincetown, Orleans, along with forestry services, and many other FDs were involved in stopping today’s fire… also in providing mutual aid station coverage. It was a regional team effort which went relatively smoothly and quickly…
HN will provide updates and additional information as it becomes available. The following video highlights the scene not long after firefighters stopped the flames. It shows the water supply operation (which I thought was pretty cool…).
