OFFICER HURT! – Traffic stop turned violent after passenger… – Hyannis News

HYANNIS – [DEVELOPING] – As you will see in the following HN Video, at about 12:35AM this morning, officers scrambled to the intersection of Winter Street and Maple Street when an officer radioed for backup.

According to sources, a routine traffic stop turned violent when the passenger allegedly fled the vehicle.

Extra officers responded to the scene to help take the passenger into custody. During the physical confrontation, a police officer was injured and needed to be transported to CCH… his injuries are unknown but one source mentioned that the young officer could have hurt his shoulder and arm. HN will provide updates as they become available.

The passenger was injured while officers were trying to take him into custody. He was also transported to CCH.

The driver apparently cooperated and remained behind the wheel of the vehicle while officers focused on the fleeing passenger.

During a search of the vehicle, an officer found what appeared to be Glock pistol… but upon closer inspection the gun appears to be a pellet or Airsoft type of pistol, but still very convincing nonetheless.

Officers also discovered and seized a clear plastic baggy of what appears to be some sort of illicit substance.

According to sources, both suspects, the driver and the passenger were arrested. The driver was transported to BPD Headquarters directly from the scene. At least one of the suspects will reportedly be charged with Possession of a Class B Substance…
