SOUTH YARMOUTH, MASSACHUSETTS — Yarmouth police officers cleared a large medical facility on Station Avenue early Tuesday morning after a burglar alarm was triggered and they discovered a shattered waiting-room window.
At approximately 1:47 a.m., squad cars responded to 495 Station Ave., home to Cape Cod Healthcare Medical Affiliates, which includes an orthodontics practice. Officers immediately found the broken glass at the scene.
Yarmouth firefighters assisted by opening the front door, allowing officers and the department’s K9 unit to enter. With guns drawn, the team conducted a careful room-by-room search of the building.
After a thorough sweep, police determined that the suspect or suspects had not gained entry.
A member of the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit processed the scene and recovered fingerprints from a large shard of glass. The evidence was collected for analysis at the crime lab.
The K9 unit showed a strong track heading south from the building.
The Yarmouth Police Department is actively investigating the incident.
