BOURNE PRESS RELEASE
Motor Vehicle Crash
Scenic Highway West @ Bournedale
BOURNE, MA, 06/13/2015: At approximately 1410 hours, members of the Bourne Police Department, Bourne Fire Department, and the Massachusetts State Police responded to a single car motor vehicle crash reported west bound on the Scenic Highway in Bournedale Village.
…
The first arriving Bourne officers located a single vehicle crash in the 800 block of Scenic Highway. A 1995 GMC ice cream vending truck had struck a utility pole on the side of the highway causing major damage to the vehicle and utility pole. The male operator was extricated from the vehicle by EMS and subsequently transported to a trauma center. While on scene, the overhead utility lines began sparking and smoking before power was lost in the area. Eversource estimated approximately 250 customers were without power as a result of the crash. Crews are on scene replacing the utility pole at the time of this release. Scenic Highway west bound was closed for a short time during the accident but has since reopened for one lane of traffic west bound. East bound traffic was not disrupted. Full travel is expected to resume once the pole has been replaced.
The accident is under investigation by the Bourne Police.
