Police investigate juvenile Breaking and Entering suspects… one arrested…
HYANNIS – Just after 8pm, the victim of a recent break in and theft from his home saw someone ride by on a bicycle wearing his backpack.
The victim called police and they responded to meet him in the area of the Hess gas station at the intersection of Bearses Way and Route 28.
The break in occurred this past Friday, about three quarters of mile away from where the victim saw his stolen backpack.
Police put out a description of two young black males riding their bicycles near the Cape Cod Mall.
At about 9:35pm, an alert patrolman spotted several young males and their bicycles at the end of Warehouse Road. Two of the individuals fit the initial description. A gray backpack, like the one that was stolen, was near to the young males on a loading dock.
Additional patrolmen and Street Crime Unit members arrived to assist in the investigation.
One of the young males was 18-years-old, the rest were juveniles in their late teens. It also appeared that one of the youth’s parents arrived and spoke with police.
The breaking and entering victim also arrived to identify the backpack.
A county identification officer arrived to take photos of the backpack and other evidence.
One of the juveniles was arrested and transported back to BPD Headquarters where he was charged Receiving Stolen Property.
The other three young males were also transported back to headquarters for further “I.D.” work…
The investigation is active and ongoing.
