UPDATE: Arrest made in serious stabbing…
UPDATE: Robert Estrela, age 23, was arrested last evening (Thursday) and charged with Assault with Intent to Murder, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, and Possession of a Class A Substance (Heroin – Subsequent Offense).
According to a press release, Falmouth police learned Estrela was possibly hiding out at residence on Ellsworth Drive in their town…
Members of the Falmouth Police Department (Lt. DeCosta, Sgt. Loewen, Det. Bartolomei, Ptl. Maguire, Ptl. Walker and Ptl. Kosky) along with members of the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office (Deputy Martin and Deputy Huse) responded to the residence. They located Estrela hiding in an upstairs bedroom closet. He was arrested without further incident.
Estrela is reportedly being held without bail…

BARNSTABLE VILLAGE – [Top photo] Wednesday evening, at about 7pm, members of the Barnstable SCU, Massachusetts State Police, and Barnstable Sheriff’s Department located, “sat on,” and eventually processed a vehicle registered out of Texas which was wanted in connection to a serious stabbing which occurred in Falmouth earlier in the day…
According to Falmouth Police Lt. Sean Doyle, yesterday (Wednesday) at about 11:44am, Falmouth Police responded to the Falmouth Hospital Emergency Room after a man showed up with serious stab wounds.
Police learned a street fight had occurred in the area of Nickerson Street and Maravista Ave in Teaticket.
After a brief investigation, police had the suspect’s name, vehicle info, and likely direction of travel.
Falmouth investigators obtained a search warrant for the suspect’s motel room in Teaticket, where they discovered a quantity of heroin.
At about 1pm yesterday, an officer safety B.O.L.O. was put out to state troopers in the Cape Cod area. At about the same time, other police forces were given a description, name, and additional information regarding the situation. Police had reason to believe the suspect was traveling in the Mid Cape area.
HN NOTE: The suspect is still at large and HN will be withholding the suspect’s name and other information as not to compromise the ongoing search and investigation.
The suspect is wanted for Attempted Murder, Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, and another 94C drug charge(s)…
The victim was seriously injured, but is now reportedly stable in a Boston area hospital. His injures are not currently considered life-threatening… The victim’s name is being withheld at this time.
The fight between the two men in their 20s was said not to be a random incident.
The suspect has a violent criminal history which includes arrests and allegations ranging from home invasion to at least one other stabbing. He has been found guilty of other violent crimes and has previously been sentenced to at least one year in the house of correction.
Local law enforcement agencies are teaming up to locate this dangerous individual and HN will provide updates as they become available…
