SHOCK: Pregnant mother allegedly caught stealing while young daughter in shopping cart…

HYANNIS – According to a source, this wasn’t the first time this mom allegedly stole things from Toys “R” Us at the Festival shopping plaza on Route 132.
Police were called last evening when store employees observed the alleged thefts in progress.
Two patrol cars responded and encountered what was described as a “very pregnant” young mother, her young child, and boyfriend in the parking lot in front of the popular toy store.
The young child was obviously upset and police chose not to arrest the mother in front of her daughter. The alleged thefts placed officers in a situation where they needed to also consider the little girl.
Officers exercised their discretion in handling this alleged crime. No further information was available at the time of this report.
HN NOTE: Shoplifting seems to occur more frequently in the fall months leading up to Christmas. We’re entering the Christmas shopping season. From past experience, HN considers this time to be one of the busiest for police and store detectives in Hyannis area.
Also, HN chose to obscure the identities of the mother, her daughter, and friend this one time. This was primarily done to protect the identity of the child. It probably will not be done again if this mother is ever caught allegedly shoplifting a second time…
