Proactive Anti-Crime Unit responded to suspected drug activity… arrested two… seized pills and heroin…
SOUTH YARMOUTH – The Yarmouth Police Department’s specialized “Proactive Anti-Crime Unit” (PACU) successfully investigated complaints of local drug activity this past Thursday evening.
Plainclothes officers Michael Wells and Christopher Van Ness were assigned to an anti-crime assignment in an unmarked cruiser.
At about 4:45 PM, Wells and Van Ness were checking the Longfellow’s parking lot at 182 Old Town House Road when they observed two males sitting inside a parked brown 2004 Chrysler sedan.
Wells and Van Ness became suspicious when they observed unusual movements. The officers decided to approach and make contact.
The officers report observing one male frantically attempting to empty a bag of brown powder. The powdered appeared to be heroin. The 75-year-old man was identified as Harold Johnson.
Upon further investigation, officers found both men to be in possessesion of a digital scale, along with four knotted corner cut baggies of tan powder. The powder was determined to be heroin.
Wells and Van Ness also discovered a plastic bag containing five Oxycodone pills. The pills were each 10 milligrams and inscribed with pharmaceutical code ‘K/56.’
Both subjects were placed under arrest and transported to Yarmouth Police Headquarters in West Yarmouth.
Both suspects were scheduled for arraignment in the Barnstable District Court on Friday morning.
