Hyannis – It was a close call today for Barnstable Patrolman Dave Foley and his rookie partner Patrolman Bruce Marney…
Foley and Marney responded to a transformer explosion and were about a block away diverting traffic when all hell broke loose…
Hyannis News was nearby when the original transformer blew up and shut down Main Street, with live primary power lines down on the sidewalk and in the street… A Hyannis News camera was rolling when another power line fell and ignited the ground just feet away from Foley and Marney!
A loud arcing high-voltage line suddenly fell and lit up the ground as both Foley and Marney scrambled for safety… It was way too close for comfort…
… and it forced officers to leave their cruiser in the intersection of Main Street and Yarmouth Road until an NSTAR crew could arrive and make the area more stable…

Town wide issues with electrical wires arcing continued throughout the afternoon and into the night…
