SOUTH YARMOUTH – [DEVELOPING] – Yarmouth Police were on the lookout after receiving a motor vehicle operation complaint that an older model gray SUV had crossed the line and went up onto a sidewalk. The SUV was traveling east on Route 28, eventually pulling into a liquor store, according to the reporting party.
The vehicle reportedly came back to a man out of Dennis. The Yarmouth Police called Dennis Police in case officers were unable to catch up to the alleged erratic driver. As you will hear, according to radio transmissions, Dennis Police had summonsed the registered owner of the vehicle earlier in the day on the charge of OUI-Drugs.
Yarmouth officers caught up to and stopped the alleged erratic driver on Highbank Road in South Yarmouth.
HN arrived and began rolling on video right as officers were showing the driver the results of a portable breathalyzer test. The driver was then taken into custody.

YPD UPDATE:
DENNIS MAN ARRESTED FOR OUI DRUGS AFTER DRIVING ON SIDEWALK
On Wednesday May 20, 2019 at approximately 10PM, Yarmouth Police received a call reporting an erratic operator on Route 28 eastbound in South Yarmouth.
The caller reported that a grey Ford Explorer bearing Massachusetts passenger registration 5XG687 was all over the road and at one point had run up on the sidewalk.
Yarmouth Police Department Patrol Officer Gordon Gibbons located the vehicle travelling northbound on North Main Street in South Yarmouth.
The posted speed for this section of North Main Street is 25 mph; the Ford Explorer was traveling at 17 mph. The vehicle also straddled the double solid yellow line several times. At Highbank Road, the driver turned right. Once again, the speed remained at between 17 mph and 20 mph although the posted speed is 35 mph.
The vehicle was stopped in the vicinity of Sheridan Way.
The operator was found to be impaired and operating under the influence of drugs.
The operator was placed under arrest and his vehicle was towed.
He was processed at Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters and bail was set by the Bail Commissioner at $340. He will be arraigned in the Barnstable District Court today.
