UPDATED: Three arrested during early morning traffic stop… plus other news briefs…
HN NOTE: All in all, for the better part of last evening, it was a relatively quiet evening in Hyannis and the Mid-Cape area… however, there were some random photo ops (it’s never completely quiet in HyTown)…
HYANNIS – At about 3:30am, three individuals were taken into custody during a traffic stop near the West Rotary on Main Street…
Police were still investigating the three individuals at the time of this report… but sources say the charges will likely range from motor vehicle infractions to illicit drug charges…
HN will provide updates hopefully later in the day…
UPDATED: According to police source, the investigation did not yield serious charges as originally suspected. Based on the evidence, all three were charged with relatively minor charges… and subsequently HN will not be releasing further details for the time being…
In other news:
A landscaping dump truck and trailer rolled over on Bumps River Road near the intersection with Aspen Way yesterday afternoon at about 4:50pm. The truck was apparently traveling west when it lost control and rolled over onto someone’s front yard. Fortunately, there were no apparent injuries…

The 7-Eleven on Main Street had signs on the door announcing they were closed due the plumbing. One unofficial source states the closure is the result of a recent board of health inspection.
The store is located right across the street from the Sturgis Charter School. The store is frequented by school children as well as the local homeless population. Early this past Friday morning, police and Hyannis rescue responded for what was initially reported as an overdose… but when police arrived, they were relieved to find the man was not dead, but just rather drunk… It’s uncertain if that incident is related to the recent store closure. HN will provide updates as they become available…
