Initial HN VIDEO & coverage:
HYANNIS – A distraught woman exited the CCH Emergency Room exclaiming that he ‘was all she had…’ a hospital security guard comforted another woman with a hug… this all happened early this morning after a bloody double stabbing on Beth Lane.
Just before 2:00AM, police and rescue rushed to a violent disturbance in the area of 131 Beth Lane.
The first officer on scene encountered an unconscious man down in the street, immediately announcing the patient had an eviscerated abdomen from a stab wound, requesting for rescue to “step it up!”
A second patient, described as man in his early forties, was said to be trying to break up the initial altercation when he was also stabbed in the upper abdomen area.
CCH was placed on trauma alerts for both patients, with one victim being described as being in grave “priority one” condition.
As you will hear in the following video, police have identified a suspect…
An electronic “ankle bracelet” was discovered cut-off and discarded several blocks from the scene. It is currently unknown as to why the suspect was wearing a monitoring device… or why he was out “on the streets.”
As of this hour, the suspect remains at large.
Police pulled over vehicles, took names, and spoke with many witnesses. The investigation is very active and ongoing at the time of this report.
Just hours after the incident, family and friends began gathering outside of the CCH Emergency Room. Loved ones were visibly upset and shocked by the news.
Yarmouth Police was also alerted and asked to standby regarding the scene at CCH… emotions were naturally high, reactions deeply visceral… but mutual aid was not needed after all as emotions settled into visible grief, with friends comforting one another.
Barnstable Police have not officially labeled this morning’s crime scene… but Massachusetts State Police CPAC Detectives have joined Barnstable Detectives in the investigation.
HN will provide official updates as they become available.
In the meantime, please keep the victim’s family and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.
