VIDEO: Woman blew microchip, blocked BK drive-thru…
HYANNIS – As you will hear and see in the following video, police responded to a volatile disturbance at the Burger King on North Street this afternoon. A woman was blocking drive-thru traffic and scaring young children and adults in the area…
HN NOTE: Part of my job as a photojournalist is to document wildlife in its natural setting. If it’s out in public, visible to the public, or otherwise in a place where there is no expectation of privacy, it’s basically fair game.
About 95% of what I shoot is never published. Either because it’s too graphic, redundant, underwhelming, etc… I sometimes decide not to publish (or highly edit the content) based on the unique circumstances of a particular situation. Forget the image, I have a heart and try not to take what I do personally.
This woman was definitely wrong to block the drive-thru patrons in like she did. There were bystanders, including young children looking out the restaurant windows, who were alarmed by her behavior… There is and was no excuse for her behavior.
But because of insights from sources, and a brief discussion with the male in her vehicle, HN made the decision to highly edit the following footage to protect their identity.
HN, however, also received phone calls and online communications about today’s scene. People were alarmed, concerned, and wanted to know what had happened…
The following footage highlights that scene as accurately as possible, yet it’s highly edited in a way to protect the identity of the mother, father, and their children.
(Their voices have also been purposefully distorted)
But I want to be clear, I would be completely within my rights to show this footage unedited.
I hope things improve for this young family. And I hope I did not make the wrong decision to protect their identities this one time…
Also note, the man in handcuffs was not under arrest, just briefly detained until things calmed down. Police also exercised an abundance of tolerance and discretion in this situation.

Don’t give up
In this proud land we grew up strong
We were wanted all along
I was taught to fight, taught to win
I never thought I could fail
No fight left or so it seems
I am a man whose dreams have all deserted
I’ve changed my face, I’ve changed my name
But no one wants you when you lose
Don’t give up
’cause you have friends
Don’t give up
You’re not beaten yet
Don’t give up
I know you can make it good
Though I saw it all around
Never thought I could be affected
Thought that we’d be the last to go
It is so strange the way things turn
Drove the night toward my home
The place that I was born, on the lakeside
As daylight broke, I saw the earth
The trees had burned down to the ground
Don’t give up
You still have us
Don’t give up
We don’t need much of anything
Don’t give up
’cause somewhere there’s a place
Where we belong
Rest your head
You worry too much
It’s going to be alright
When times get rough
You can fall back on us
Don’t give up
Please don’t give up
‘got to walk out of here
I can’t take anymore
Going to stand on that bridge
Keep my eyes down below
Whatever may come
And whatever may go
That river’s flowing
That river’s flowing
Moved on to another town
Tried hard to settle down
For every job, so many men
So many men no-one needs
Don’t give up
’cause you have friends
Don’t give up
You’re not the only one
Don’t give up
No reason to be ashamed
Don’t give up
You still have us
Don’t give up now
We’re proud of who you are
Don’t give up
You know it’s never been easy
Don’t give up
’cause I believe there’s the a place
There’s a place where we belong
