*** WATCH *** 29-YEAR-OLD LEADS COPS ON PURSUIT IN STOLEN TAXI
FALMOUTH – Police received a report of a stolen taxi cab at around 9:30 p.m. last evening – [12/4/2022].
As you will see and hear in the following HN Video, a Falmouth Taxi Cab was reported stolen out of the Teaticket Market parking lot on Route 28. A B.O.L.O. was put out to surrounding towns for a blue minivan with a taxi sign on the front windshield.
Minutes later, a Mashpee police patrolman suddenly announced he was in pursuit of the stolen taxi. Speeds reached 25 MPH as the chase entered the Mashpee Rotary and turned onto Route 151. During the pursuit, the driver was apparently waving at the officers behind him for some reason, according to radio transmissions.
The pursuit eventually came to an end in the parking lot of Andy’s Market on Route 151 in Mashpee. The operator was immediately taken into custody. A record check of the 29-year-old suspect came back showing a warrant out of a court in Quincy, for reportedly not showing up to face a shoplifting rap.
An empty bottle of booze not belonging to the cabby was located in the front seat of the stolen minivan.
Falmouth officers arrived at Andy’s Market and the stolen minivan was eventually turned over to the cabby.
The suspect was transported back to Mashpee Police Headquarters for booking and processing. HN will provide official updates as they become available.
