HYANNIS, MASSACHUSETTS — An e-bike rider was left bleeding on the pavement Monday evening after being struck by a black sedan that fled the scene on North Street, near the parking lot entrance to Fitness 500.

Barnstable Police and Hyannis Firefighters responded around 7:35 p.m. The dazed rider was placed in an ambulance, where medics were eventually able to explain that he had just been hit by a motor vehicle. He was badly hurt. After being stabilized, he was transported to Cape Cod Hospital.

Police had only a vague description of the black sedan. Officers began checking nearby security cameras as the investigation continued. A member of the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit responded to photograph the crash scene and the victim’s injuries at the hospital.

The investigation, led by the Barnstable Police Department, remains active and ongoing. Hyannis News video from the scene shows the aftermath of the crash.
