*** WATCH *** HARRINGTON GETS 10 TO 12 YEARS FOR KNIFING EX-GIRLFRIEND 20 TIMES IN NEAR-FATAL AMBUSH, THANKS TO SUCCESSFULL POLICE RESPONSE, INVESTIGATION & MANHUNT
HN NOTE: When HN arrived on scene, one of the victim’s children, a young boy, was observed looking out the front door where someone had just tried to murder his mother. Officers were extremely motivated – to say the least – to capture the monster who had just laid in wait outside of the young boy’s home as his mom returned from work, before stabbing her 20 times in an attempt to end her life.

BARNSTABLE, Massachusetts – The above HN Video shows the moment Barnstable Police Patrol Officers tracked down and found Michael Harrington hiding at Dowses Beach in Osterville, on the evening of August 28, 2021, around 18 hours after he ambushed and brutally plunged a knife into his ex-girlfriend 20 times!
On August 28, 2021 at approximately 1:30 a.m., Barnstable Police Department patrol units were dispatched to a house in Marstons Mills to check on the welfare of a female. The male 911 caller reported speaking with his female friend by phone as she walked into her home, and then it suddenly sounded like she was being attacked…
… and the phone went dead.
Upon arriving at the scene, Officer Nelson Souve heard a female screaming for help and immediately located her on the front steps of the home. Officer Souve observed that the female victim was suffering from numerous stab wounds to her arm, chest and face area. Officer Nolan O’Melia quickly arrived on scene, and immediately began treating the female’s injuries, while Officer Souve checked inside the home to make sure the victim’s aunt and children were safe and that the suspect was no longer on scene.
THERE’S NO QUESTION THAT THE IMMEDIATE ACTIONS OF POLICE & FIREFIGHTERS HELPED SAVE THE VICTIM’S LIFE!
COMM Fire/Rescue arrived at the home shortly thereafter, and treated and transported the female victim to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth. The victim was then MedFlighted to a hospital in Boston due to the severity of her wounds.
The woman was described as being 41-years-old and in priority one condition. She was in very rough shape, at least one tourniquet had already been applied and she had lost a lot of blood.
While being treated for her injuries, the female victim identified her attacker as 34-year-old Michael Harrington of Marstons Mills. A warrant was obtained for Michael Harrington for Assault with Intent to Murder and Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon.
As seen in the above HN Video, Barnstable Police Officers searched all day, eventually tracking down and finding Harrington hiding at Dowses Beach in Osterville, around 18 hours later, the very same day. And it would be the tireless investigation efforts of the Barnstable Police Department (with the assistance of the Barnstable Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit) that would ultimately bring the woman’s attacker to justice.
Over a year and a half later, on March 30, 2023, Cape & Islands District Attorney Robert J. Galibois announced that Michael Harrington, 35, of Barnstable was sentenced to 10 to 12 years in state prison for the stabbing of his ex-girlfriend 20 times on August 28, 2021, in Barnstable.
Harrington was sentenced by Barnstable Superior Court Judge Gregg J. Pasquale on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 immediately following Harrington’s guilty plea to charges of armed assault to murder, aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in violation of an abuse prevention order, and assault and battery on a family or household member.
At the plea hearing, Assistant District Attorney Alexandra Isaacs established that Harrington laid in wait outside of the victim’s home before stabbing her 20 times with a knife on her front steps. The case had been successfully investigated by the Barnstable Police Department. Deb McCoy, a victim/witness advocate, was pointed out as assisting during the court process…
Again, there’s no question that the quick and immediate actions of police and firefighters helped save the victim’s life! And there’s also no question that the Barnstable Police Department was extremely determined to quickly get Harrington off the street and bring him to Justice!
