*** WATCH *** Healthy looking coyote in the downtown Hyannis area… even though one of my neighbors thinks I’m full of [BLEEP]
[HN NOTES] At about 3:30 a.m, Wednesday morning, my dashcam was rolling when a healthy looking coyote was running around the downtown Hyannis area in the area of North Street. It is definitely not the first time I’ve seen coyotes in the downtown area. In fact, I see coyotes all the time when it’s quiet and there’s nobody on the roads…
… but I’m posting the video for a very good reason. (Mainly to prevent me and my dog from being riddled with bullets someday. Let me explain.)
A couple of years ago, one of my neighbors came down my driveway looking angry, telling me that he was missing his cat… and he didn’t seem to believe me when I told him that I often see large healthy coyotes in the downtown area. He wasn’t listening well and was focused on getting to the bottom of what could have happened to his cat – as if I knew – and sort of implied that my 13-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier (now deceased) may have eaten his beloved pet. (Which is impossible because my dogs are always with me and I strictly supervise what they eat… and cats are definitely NOT on the menu… besides, I love little kitties and wouldn’t let that happen.).
Again, I tried to explain to the old fella that I see a lot of healthy looking coyotes in the neighborhood late at night and that I believe they are the ones going after people’s cats – they have to be eating something, right? – but all he wanted to talk about was the fact he served in Vietnam and that maybe he would get out his M-16 and take care of whatever was messing with his cats, telling me all this with a scowl on his face… which was sort of creepy and only made me feel like the old fella was going a little “cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs,” if ya know what I mean.
“So here’s some dag-gone proof my dear old neighbor. As I told you years ago (and this is simply the first time I’ve had time to publish some coyote video… there’s more…), it was very likely a coyote who got your kitty, so please don’t take your guns to town! And, by the way, thank you for your service to our country.” 😉
