*** WATCH *** HOME’S ROOF COLLAPSES DURING FALMOUTH STRUCTURE FIRE [UPDATED]
UPDATE – FFD MEDIA STATEMENT & STILLS
At approximately 2:15AM this morning, a Patrolman on routine area patrol was alerted to a fire coming from a residence on Surrey Lane in East Falmouth. The resident was awoken by the smoke detectors sounding in the home. He attempted to extinguish the fire without success. The Patrolman evacuated the resident without injury.
There was extensive damage to the home, including a partial collapse of the roof and the second floor. The fire was brought under control at approximately 5AM. The cause is believed to be accidental, but the fire is still under Investigation by the Falmouth Fire Rescue Department’s Fire Investigation Unit.
Thank you to the Falmouth Police Department for rapid notification and assisting at the scene, and Falmouth Emergency Communications for communications and logistical support. Thank you to the outside fire departments that assisted at the scene and covered our stations and the other simultaneous emergency calls in the town, Joint Base Cape Cod, Bourne, Sandwich, Cotuit, and Onset Fire Departments. And thank you to the Special Signal Fire Association / Providence Canteen for providing rehab at the scene.
