*** WATCH *** MASS. ENVIRONMENTAL POLICE TAKE CUSTODY OF BOAT INVOLVED IN FATAL CRASH INTO DENNIS JETTY [HN VIDEOS]
UPDATE FROM DISTRICT ATTORNEY ON JULY 21, 2023 – FATAL BOAT CRASH IN DENNIS:
Cape & Islands District Attorney Robert J. Galibois announced today that at approximately 9:01 pm on July 21, 2023, the Dennis Police Department received a 911 call reporting that a boat crashed into a jetty in Sesuit Harbor in Dennis. Dennis Police then learned that a 17-year-old female occupant of the boat was unaccounted for. The body of the female was recovered by Dennis Fire-Rescue personnel and the regional dive team. The female was pronounced deceased at the scene. Out of respect for the privacy of her family, her identity is not being released. District Attorney Galibois extends his condolences to her family and friends.
Preliminary information received by investigators established that the vessel, a Regulator equipped with two outboard 250 horsepower engines bearing an Alabama registration, was occupied by 6 individuals including the deceased, at the time of the crash. The location of the crash was identified as the jetty by the channel leading to the Northside Marina in Sesuit Harbor. Other occupants of the boat were treated at the Cape Cod Hospital.
The crash is being investigated by Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Cape & Islands District Attorney’s Office, the Massachusetts Environmental Police, Dennis Police Department, and the Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services Section.

MASS. STATE POLICE UPDATE #2–The investigation into last night’s boat crash in Sesuit Harbor, Dennis, is ongoing and is being conducted by the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office, the Massachusetts State Police, the Massachusetts Environmental Police, and Dennis Police.
Below are several additions to what was released last night:
-The Massachusetts State Police Marine Unit and the MSP Underwater Recovery Unit, along with Massachusetts Environmental Police marine assets, are conducting dive operations at the crash site today to search for debris from the boat, in furtherance of the investigation.
-The crash occurred at approximately 9 PM;
-Six people, including the girl who sustained fatal injuries, were on the boat;
-The recovery of the victim from the water was made by the regional dive team with assistance from Dennis Fire-Rescue (not USCG as initially reported last night); and
-At least one other boat passenger, a teenage male, was transported to Cape Cod Hospital with a head laceration.

DENNIS, Massachusetts – The boat involved in a crash that killed a 17-year-old girl was taken into custody by the Massachusetts Environment Police shortly after 2:00 a.m. this morning. The following HN video shows investigators inspecting the damage where the boat apparently came into contact with a rock jetty at the mouth to Sesuit Harbor. The boat was hauled away from Sesuit Harbor by the M.E.P., and impounded at Dennis Police Headquarters, with the assistance of a truck from the Dennis Harbor Master.

UPDATE FROM MASS. STATE POLICE – 7/22/23 @ 1:00 AM: We regret to report that the person missing from the boat that crashed in Sesuit Harbor, a 17-year-old girl, was recovered, deceased, from the water by the USCG at approximately 11:30 PM. The death investigation is being conducted by the State Police Detective Unit for the Cape and Islands District, the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office, and Dennis Police with the assistance of the State Police Crime Scene Services Section.
In addition to the agencies listed in the initial email, the Massachusetts Environmental Police also responded and will assist in the investigation into the crash.
No further information is being released at this time.

*** WATCH *** MASSIVE SEARCH AFTER BOAT CRASHES AT MOUTH TO SESUIT HARBOR… BODY OF 17-YEAR-OLD RECOVERED
DENNIS, Massachusetts – According to initial emergency radio transmissions, at one point as many as eight people were in the water after a boat reportedly crashed into a jetty at the mouth to Sesuit Harbor, at around 9:00 p.m. last evening. One person was said to have a serious head injury. Medflight wasn’t flying due to weather, according to radio transmissions.
The last word was that one person was still unaccounted for. Cape Cod rescue teams were activated. As of midnight, resources were still working the scene…
