DA: WEST YARMOUTH MAN HELD IN CUSTODY AFTER GUNFIGHT AT HAMPTON INN [HN VIDEO]
UPDATE FROM DISTRICT ATTORNEY – 7/6/2023 @ 5PM:
District Attorney Robert Galibois announced today that a West Yarmouth man is being held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing after being charged with carrying a firearm
without a license and associated charges following an incident Wednesday July 5, 2023 at the Hampton Inn on Route 28 in West Yarmouth.
At about 7:20 pm, West Yarmouth Police were dispatched to the Hampton Inn for a call of shots fired. Upon arrival, police officers learned that two males had shot at each other in the Hampton
Inn parking lot. It does not appear that anyone was injured.
Within hours, on July 5, 2023, Yarmouth Police arrested Jarius McWilliams, 20, of West Yarmouth pertaining to his role in the incident. McWilliams was charged with carrying a firearm without a license and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling.
The investigation is ongoing. Additional charges may be forthcoming. He was arraigned today, July 6, 2023 in the Barnstable District Court. He is being held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for July 14, 2023 at 9:00 am in the Orleans District Court.
The Yarmouth Police Department and Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department Bureau of Criminal Investigation participated in the investigation. District Attorney Galibois commends
the efforts of the investigators.
District Attorney Galibois reiterates that all defendants are presumed innocent. There will be no
further information released at this time.

*** WATCH *** SHOTS FIRED AT WEST YARMOUTH HOTEL [NEW DETAILS]
WEST YARMOUTH, Massachusetts – Yarmouth police officers rushed to the Hampton Inn & Suites on Route 28 around 7 pm this evening for an incident involving shots fired. HN is working on finding out more details (SEE UPDATE BELOW), but sources say at least three shots were fired. Nobody was hit. The investigation is very active and ongoing, with the YPD calling additional resources to the scene. Barnstable Police officers also responded to Yarmouth to provide mutual aid. A member of the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit responded to document and collect evidence. A metal detector was used to search for evidence inside a taped-off area just outside the Hampton Inn hotel rooms. A vehicle was located at another nearby address with at least one bullet hole. At least one of the suspects are still at large.
The hotel appeared to be fully occupied at the time of the shooting. Families stopped to ask what was going on. Many are here on vacation with young children…

YARMOUTH POLICE RESPOND TO SHOTS FIRED CALL AT YARMOUTH HOTEL, NO INJURIES REPORTED
WEST YARMOUTH, Mass. – At approximately 7:06 PM the Yarmouth Police Department received a call reporting shots fired in the parking to of the Hampton Inn Hotel on Route 28 in West Yarmouth. A witness stated a male brandished a firearm and then fired multiple shots. Evidence collected at the scene by Detectives corroborates the witness statement. Currently, there are no reports of any injuries.
The incident appears to have been a targeted assault. The investigation is ongoing by the Yarmouth Police Department and the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office of Criminal Investigation.
