YARMOUTH – As you will see and hear in the following HN Video, a tractor trailer burst into flames earlier this evening on the Mid-Cape Highway, at around 9:00 p.m. The trailer was fully involved and parked off the roadway, but all Route 6 westbound lanes needed to be completely closed down due to heavy smoke and possible hazardous fumes. Traffic was stopped westbound between the old Exits 9 and 8… (now 75 and 72…), a short distance into Yarmouth from the Dennis town line. Apparatus from Yarmouth arrived first and an engine from Dennis also responded to assist. Flames reignited from time to time and firefighters were still working the scene as this video was being processed. All assets had reportedly cleared the scene as of 10:30 p.m.

UPDATE: There were no official reports of any injuries… and a state trooper mentioned that the tractor trailer appeared to be a “fish truck.”
