*** WATCH *** A message from Dr. Isle Mariel Bastille: “LET’S BE IN AWE OF LIFE TOGETHER!”
The following video contains an inspirational message from Dr. Isle Mariel Bastille, who was chosen to deliver a commencement speech to the 2023 doctoral graduates at Harvard Medical School.
(The speech was actually several weeks ago but was unable to be shared right away due to a technical issue.)
Dr. Isle Mariel Bastille was raised right here in Hyannis! And she is also a graduate of Barnstable High School. Isle Mariel has dedicated her life to the study of medical science, and has conducted years of neurological research at Cornell, Columbia, and Harvard Medical School.
(She also happens to be my daughter.)
A life-long student of our fascinating microscopic world, inside and all around us, Dr. Isle Mariel Bastille encourages everyone to enjoy a fully enlightened life of nonstop learning. (For example, one can always start, or restart, by simply sitting and looking at the backside of one’s own hand, while contemplating the “myriad of tiny miracles” that make it possible for us to be alive!) And as you’ll see in the following Harvard Medical School video, Dr. Bastille’s entire commencement speech is perhaps best summarized as she invites one and all, “Let’s be in awe of life together!”
