*** WATCH *** WILD BARNSTABLE VILLAGE PURSUIT… ROLLOVER… FOOTCHASE… ARREST! [UPDATED]
BARNSTABLE – [DEVELOPING] – It was a wild pursuit that ended in a rollover crash on Route 6A early this morning!
As you will see and hear in the following HN Video, Barnstable Police Patrolman Michael Lima was attempting to stop a vehicle for erratic operation on Route 132. The vehicle would not pull over and stop. The pursuit began with relatively slow speeds of around 25 to 40 miles per hour as it approached Route 6A. The fleeing vehicle then turned right and began traveling east along Route 6A in the direction of Barnstable Village, according to radio traffic. Speeds suddenly began reaching as high as about [60] miles per hour shortly after continuing along Route 6A.
The pursuit was likely about to be called off as the vehicle got closer to the center of Barnstable Village, but right after the patrolman radioed regarding the sudden accelerating speeds, the vehicle reportedly rolled over into a tree.
The male driver took off running on foot in the direction of the courthouse. As the male began to flee, Patrolman Lima had the presence of mind to quickly check inside of the overturned vehicle to ensure there were no injured passengers. (There weren’t any…)
Patrolman Lima then continued to pursue the fleeing suspect, catching up to him a couple blocks away at the intersection of Scudder Lane and Route 6A. Patrolman Lima was then able to place the suspect under arrest.
(Patrolman Lima was not injured during the chase and was in the process of continuing his investigation into the driver, who was being evaluated at the Cape Cod Hospital emergency room at the time of this report.)
The suspect has been identified as Kenneth Brickhouse, age 48, out of Reading, Massachusetts. Brickhouse is looking at a slew of charges, from Failure to Stop for Police Officer to reckless, dangerous driving…
Brickhouse was transported to Cape Cod Hospital for injuries related to the rollover crash.
The following HN Video begins with some of the radio transmissions from the pursuit. It then switches to video footage right after HN arrived on scene.

UPDATE FROM LT. MARK MELLYN OF THE BPD (8/10/22 @ 11am):
“At approximately 3:17 a.m. on Wednesday August 10, 2022, Barnstable Police Officer Michael Lima attempted to stop a black 2021 Audi Q7 operating erratically as it traveled north on Route 132 in Barnstable.
The vehicle failed to stop for Officer Lima and continued to travel east on Route 6A in Barnstable. Shortly thereafter, the suspect vehicle left the roadway and rolled over in front of 2644 Route 6A. The operator, 48 year old Kenneth Brickhouse of Reading MA, then climbed out of the overturned vehicle and fled the scene of the crash.
Upon arriving at the crash site, Officer Lima checked the overturned vehicle for any other injured people. After determining that no one else was in the Audi, Lima began a search for the suspect and apprehended Brickhouse further east of the scene.
Brickhouse was then transported to Cape Cod Hospital by the Barnstable Fire Department for minor injuries sustained as a result of the accident. Kenneth Brickhouse was issued a citation charging him with Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Speeding, Failure to Stop for Police, Leaving the Scene of an Accident and several other motor vehicle charges.
