WILD HN VIDEO: Driver allegedly almost went head-on with cruiser… pursuit ends as car crashes and catches fire in family neighborhood…
HYANNIS – As you will see in the following WILD HN VIDEO, at about 10:17p.m. last evening, a patrolman came on the radio above the sirens announcing that he was in pursuit of a vehicle that almost went head-on with a police cruiser.
Concerned about public safety, a police Sergeant came on air ordering officers don’t pursue, but monitor…
… moments later officers reported the vehicle had crashed and that the driver had fled on foot. As you will hear, the driver did not get far as a Barnstable Patrolman came on the radio indicating the driver was in custody in some nearby bushes, and in need of rescue – at about this time, another patrolman reported that the suspect’s vehicle had caught fire.
The car crashed on Saint Francis Circle, a thickly settled family neighborhood in Hyannis. Families came out into the street after hearing all the noise and seeing the smoke.
A male was taken into custody and transported to CCH on a stretcher. Two female passengers (one extremely upset) were spoken to and walked away from the scene by officers, but it’s uncertain whether or not they were charged with anything.
CAUTION – The following HN Video is intense and contains strong language. It shows the entire crash scene moments after it happened. The footage ends with an interview with John Rose, who heard the crash and came outside to see smoke. HN will provide updates as they become available… * All suspects are presumed innocent until charged and proven guilty in a court of law.
