YARMOUTH CRASH: Route 28 closed after vehicle destroys utility pole… several passengers taken to CCH… power outages reported…
WEST YARMOUTH – Several passengers, maybe as many as four, were transported to Cape Cod Hospital last evening after a single car slammed into a utility pole shortly after 10:00 p.m..
The crash happened on busy Route 28 in the area of the Hunters Green motel.
As you will see in the following HN Video, the impact snapped the pole and wires came down around the heavily damaged sedan…
Nearby visitors and hotel guests came out to the street after hearing the loud bang. Some reported seeing a flash, possibly from a transformer exploding…
There were reports of power outages from the downed wires and other damage to the local network. According to sources, first responders are expected to be on scene throughout the overnight, with Route 28 likely not reopening until later tomorrow morning.
The condition of all the injured passengers is unknown at the time of this report.
As of midnight crews are still on scene.
