Suspected wrong-way driver arrested for OUI after allegedly taking off and crashing as police stopped him a second time… trooper suffers hand injury… additional charges likely… [HN VIDEO]
RTE 6 – YARMOUTH – [DEVLOPING] – At about 1:30 am, Massachusetts State Troopers and Yarmouth Police were out searching in the area of Route 6 between Exits 9 and 7 after receiving a report of a wrong-way driver.
As you will see and hear this following HN Video, officers caught up to the suspected wrong-way driver apparently stopped in the roadway on Route 6 westbound between Exits 9 and 8.
Then all of sudden a Yarmouth Patrolman radioed that the suspect took off westbound from the initial traffic stop.
After a brief pursuit, the vehicle was finally stopped a second time after some type of single car motor vehicle accident.
There was a struggle with officers according to sources. During the struggle, a rookie state trooper reportedly cut her hand. She shook off the injury and transported the arrested suspect back to the state police barracks in South Yarmouth for booking.
The suspect is looking at OUI alcohol charges, possible drug charges, and other charges related to allegedly fleeing the initial traffic stop, according to sources… [DEVELOPING]
