*** WATCH *** Yarmouth police officers catch up to distraught late night swimmer…
SOUTH YARMOUTH – Yarmouth police officers responded to a report of male allegedly making suicidal comments to his girlfriend late last evening. As you will hear in the following HN Video, police officers learned the distraught male had just jumped into Parker’s River and started swimming south. Yarmouth firefighters also responded and helped in the search, prepared for a possible water rescue. At least one boat was launched to aid in the search. As you will hear in the radio transmissions, the male would occasionally pop up on the shore of one side of the river, and then the other.
Officers and firefighters were eventually able to catch up to and evaluate the man. According to radio transmissions, the male was taken via ambulance to CCH in protective custody, in order to have a psychological evaluation.
