UPDATE: According to sources, Megan Laverty, age 34, will be charged with her second OUI…
9:42AM UPDATE: HN knows the grandfather of the children in the house… and he reached out to update the story this morning… One of the children is actually 6 years old. The baby is 3 months old. The 6-year-old is the one usually sleeping where the vehicle crashed. She wasn’t in her bed because the family just had the carpets cleaned and she was sleeping with her mom because things were piled on top of her bed. The grandfather reports everyone is still shaken up, but otherwise unharmed physically and “doing good…”
10:14AM UPDATE: The mother of the children sent in the following photos of inside the children’s bedroom. She reports it was a terrifying ordeal, but this morning she’s counting her blessings her children were not harmed physically…
11:11AM UPDATE: The mother reports she believes it’s a miracle her children were not harmed! She reports still literally being in shock… and says that when the driver hit her house, she kept trying to drive in! and then backed out! She hit so hard the items on the mom’s dresser in the back bedroom fell off… But overall, the mom is just happy her girls are safe and unharmed. The mother also hopes they put some sort of barrier up in front of her home to prevent this from happening again…

Initial report:
YARMOUTH – A [small child and baby] miraculously [were] not in bed when a car suddenly crashed through the bedroom wall.
A friend of the family was next door, heard the crash and immediately went running to help because, as she told Hyannis News, the [child’s] bed was located right up against the wall that had just been struck by a speeding motor vehicle.
Another witness felt fortunate to be unharmed and in one piece after he saw the vehicle go airborne right in front of him. He said he luckily had been driving slow enough to avoid a serious collision.
At about 12:28am, Yarmouth Rescue and Police rushed to 314 Winslow Gray Road after a single car crashed into the side of the home.
The vehicle reportedly had been speeding along Buck Island Road when it ran over two traffic islands and went airborne, flying over Winslow Gray Road, through some hedges, and through the wall of a baby’s bedroom.
When HN arrived, rescue workers were treating the injured female driver inside the back of an ambulance. The woman appeared to be sobbing as first responders tried to talk with her.
The baby’s bedroom wall was caved in and the home appeared to have structural damage. So much so, the Yarmouth building inspector was summoned to take a careful look at the scene.
The Nissan Versa had heavy front end damage. Airbags had deployed. Its rear bumper was located about 100 feet away on the ground next to damaged traffic island shrubbery.
Yarmouth Police Sergeant John Fallon said the driver was still being treated at Cape Cod Hospital and that she will be summoned and charged with Operating Under the Influence. The accident is still under investigation and Sergeant Fallon expects more details to become available later today.
Police were still uncertain as to why the [child and baby were not in their beds] this particular evening… but everyone was grateful [they were not], as things could have turned out much worse.
