Initial HN report:
COTUIT – At about 2:30pm, a 16-year-old got off her school bus and began walking home. About a block into her walk she noticed she was being followed by a much older man in pick up truck with possible out-of-state license plates.
The 16-year-old knew she was being stalked. She decided not to return directly home because she did not want the man knowing where she lived.
She was walking away from her home when the stalker took things to the next level. She was on a dirt road not far from her home when the man confronted her, punched her in the face, and tried to pull her into his pickup truck.
She fought back and kneed the man hard enough to escape and run away.
Police were called and the investigation began.
Police say it began near the bus stop which was at the intersection of Nixon Ave and Putnam Ave. A description was given out of the man and the truck with possible out-of-state plates. Patrol officers immediately began to stop any vehicle fitting the description, but were unable to locate the suspect.
Police are looking for an older model dark “rusty red” pickup truck with a silver line down the side. The truck possibly has out-of-state license plates.
The suspect is described as being a man in his early 40s (maybe even late 30s). He is said to be taller than 5’10” tall. He has dark brown hair with some gray hair mixed in… his hair was described as being “thick.” He has light skin (white)… He was said to have no facial hair… He has a thin build… (Police will be releasing more details as the investigation unfolds…)
The girl was punched and grabbed but did not require rescue to respond to the scene.
Barnstable Police investigators will being doing a reverse 911 call at 8pm to warn the public about this individual.
The following video highlights investigators documenting the scene of the attack and the bus stop… and where the girl first noticed she was being followed.
