Cape Cod Hospital on trauma alert after rollover into a West Barnstable marsh… [HN VIDEO]

INITIAL HN REPORT:
WEST BARNSTABLE – Police and firefighters rushed to the scene of rollover crash that landed a vehicle upside-down in a marsh with the driver still trapped inside.
The crash happened shortly after 9:30 a.m. on Route 6A near the wetlands that lead out toward Sandy Neck.
As you will hear in the following HN Video, Joe Leary was inside when he saw the crash and immediately rushed out into the marsh in front of his home to help the entrapped female crash victim.
According to Mr. Leary, the vehicle was briefly on fire before somehow extinguishing itself as it rolled into the wet marshland.
Firefighters arrived and had to cut away the windshield in order to extricate the patient. CCH was placed on trauma alert but the patient was conscious and alert prior to being transported.
A member of the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Investigation Unit responded to take photos and the Barnstable Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.
