BARNSTABLE – A father and mother were greatly relieved last evening upon being reunited with their 8-year-old that had gone missing.
At around 7:00 p.m., Barnstable Police officers responded to the apartment buildings at 767 Independence Drive for a report of a missing girl, last seen a few hours prior.
Officers began searching the general area, including several of the buildings. A nearby soccer field was checked and Cape Cod Hospital was called, to no avail.
Police were about to initiate a more in-depth search of all nearby apartments when there was a sudden cry from the missing child to her worried father. The little girl appears to have come out of another apartment building across the way. The father and family members sprinted across an outdoor common area toward the child, embracing her tightly, obviously relieved she had been found safe and sound.
A Barnstable FD Rescue ambulance responded to the scene to evaluate the child as a precaution. The child checked out fine. And about an hour after the initial missing child report, the little girl had been safely reunited her loving family.
Case close.
