*** WATCH *** Firefighters save Marstons Mills home after two cars catch fire inside attached garage…. [UPDATED]
COMM FD MEDIA STATEMENT: On 10/19/2021 at 13:53hrs, COMM Fire received a call for a vehicle fire inside a garage attached to a residence and that the fire had extended to the home at 46 Dory Circle, Marstons Mills. A working fire assignment requested while in route to the scene following a confirmation of a structure fire by Barnstable Police Officer on scene. Upon arrival units found the garage of the home fully involved with fire and the 2 vehicles inside the garage. Homeowners were home at time of fire, and were alerted by their working smoke alarms, allowing them to safely exit the residence. Initial crews stretched multiple 1 3/4″ hose lines to extinguish the fire, establish a water supply from a fire hydrant, perform a primary search of the living area and check for fire extension inside the home. The fire did not extend to the interior of the home and damage was mostly confined to the garage. COMM Fire received help from mutual aid companies from West Barnstable, Mashpee, Barnstable, Hyannis and Cotuit fire departments. There were no injuries to the homeowner’s or responding fire crews. Damage to the home is being assessed. Units were on scene for approximately 4 hours. COMM Fire Investigators determined the cause of the fire to be the vehicle inside the garage.

MARSTONS MILLS – The fire broke out around 2:00 p.m. at 46 Dory Circle. The following HN footage begins with an interview with Fire Chief Michael Winn of the Centerville – Osterville – Marstons Mills Fire Department. The garage was fully involved after one, then two cars burst into flames. The first police officers on seen advised the fire department to step it up after gasoline containers ignited inside. All occupants of the home managed to evacuate safely thanks for functioning smoke detectors. Firefighters were able to stop the flames from extending further, containing most of the damage to the garage. There were no reported injuries, including both firefighters and occupants. The state fire marshals office was contacted to assist C.O.M.M. FD and the Barnstable Police Department with the investigation. The Barnstable County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit was also contacted to assist at the scene.
