On Tuesday, October 19th, at approximately 8:15 pm, the Yarmouth Police 9-1-1 Dispatch Center received a call from a male saying he had a gun pulled on him by an employee at the Royal II restaurant.
The caller stated that there was a disagreement over an issue with a meal. The caller told the dispatcher numerous times that the employee had a gun and, that the employee had charged at him with his hand on the gun.
The Yarmouth Police Department sent all shift officers and the road supervisor to the restaurant. Upon arrival at the restaurant, officers established a perimeter and made contact with the owner. INITIAL HN REPORT
YARMOUTH PORT – [DEVELOPING] – Details surrounding last evening’s scene at the Royal II Restaurant and Grill on Route 6A remain unclear.
As you will see and hear in the following HN Video, Yarmouth patrol officers converged on the restaurant in quiet Yarmouth Port after receiving reports of someone alluding to a firearm allegedly seen tucked inside his waistband. The man who allegedly had the gun was possibly a kitchen employee who may have already left the scene, according to radio transmissions. A later report said the man with the gun was last seen behind the restaurant.
The reporting party was said to be uncooperative, not wanting to return to the scene.
Yarmouth Police squad cars surrounded the establishment and began ordering everyone to come out with their hands up. Once outside in the parking lot, individuals were ordered to step forward one-by-one to be searched for weapons. According to radio transmissions, aside from employees, restaurant patrons may have also been ordered out. Initially, at least one person is said to have been reluctant to come out.
Once everyone was patted down they were spoken to by officers and allowed to return back inside the restaurant. At that point, sources on scene indicated the situation turned out not to be as serious as initially believed.
HN will provide official updated details as soon as they are released by the YPD. [DEVLOPING]
