BARNSTABLE POLICE: Kidnapper arrested with 2-year-old son just prior to boarding US Airways flight…
Press statement:
On Monday, June 22, 2015, a Marstons Mills woman arrived at the Barnstable Police Station to report that her son had been taken by her estranged husband. She told officers that her husband (Dyverson OCCEANT of Dallas, Georgia) arrived at her house unannounced to deliver divorce papers. She said that when she went into another room of the house, OCCEANT fled with their with their two year old son without permission. She told Officer Feliciano that she had been trying to reach her husband all day, but he wasn’t answering his cellphone. After he called back and told her that he was taking the child for the night, she came to the police station to make the report.
Officer Armando Feliciano tracked Dyverson OCCEANT to an address in Brockton where he brought the child and was staying with relatives. The child’s mother agreed to allow the child to stay with family members as long as the father returned the child the next day.
On Tuesday, June 23rd, the Barnstable Police were notified that the child had not been returned and no one has had any contact with OCCEANT. Officer Feliciano tracked OCCEANT’s cellphone to Logan Airport and, after being granted a warrant for OCCEANT, notified the Mass State Police of the situation and requested their assistance. State Police officers located and arrested OCCEANT as he was preparing to board a US Airways flight with his son. Officer Feliciano drove to Logan to take custody of OCCEANT and the two year old boy was reunited with his mother.
Dyverson OCCEANT is a 30 year old male, born in Haiti, but is a US citizen currently living in Dallas, Georgia. He was returned to Barnstable where he was charged with kidnapping and is being held on bail pending his appearance in Barnstable District Court on Wednesday, June 24, 2015.
