Bicyclist snatched woman’s purse while she checked her mailbox…
HYANNIS – A woman on Mitchell’s Way arrived home to check her mailbox at around 9:00pm Thursday evening, when suddenly a man on a bicycle rode by and snatched her purse right off her shoulder.
Police arrived within moments and began searching…
Officers considered using GPS to locate her cell phone, except this night she was not carrying her phone in her purse.
Everything happened so quickly and the 59-year-old victim had trouble providing details regarding the purse snatcher’s description.
Barnstable Patrolman Dennis Stampfl took a report and began to comb the area for clues. Just several blocks away Stampfl located the purse in the middle of the road.

The victim picked up her belongings and surprisingly there wasn’t much missing… just some prescription pills and a set of keys.
