*** AUDIO *** JAIL CELL FIRE: Firefighters respond to Barnstable County Correctional Facility’s “K Pod…”
BOURNE – [DEVELOPING] – As you will hear in the following HN Video, at around 1:58 a.m. this morning, Bourne Firefighters responded to the Barnstable County Correctional Facility at 6000 Sheriff’s Place for a report of a fire in one of the jail cells. The fire happened in a part of the jail referred to as “K Pod.” Joint Base Cape Cod Firefighters also responded.
Upon arrival, crews reported the “small fire” had already been extinguished. Firefighters then began checking for extension and wetting down, according to radio transmissions.
HN reached out to a Barnstable County Sheriff’s Deputy on duty and he was unable to provide additional details at the time of this report.
The cause of the fire remains unknown. And it’s also unknown if any firefighters, deputies, or inmates were harmed during the incident.
