VIDEO: Box truck takes down support pole, trips high tension wires, sets fire to woods…

BARNSTABLE – Firefighters needed to wait until it was safe to enter a wooded area and put out flames started by downed power lines…
At about 12:45pm, police and the Barnstable Fire Department responded Route 6A right in front of the elementary school after a box truck struck a telephone support pole.
Downed wires then arced and started a brush fire…
Firefighters waited for the power company (NSTAR… or Eversource… or whatever they call themselves these days…) to make the area safer so they could put out the fire.
Traffic was slowed for about an hour. Traffic may need to be slowed again this afternoon while the power company continues to fix the wires.
There were no injuries.
The following video highlights first responders fighting the brush fire and protecting the public from the area.
