Breaking overnight: Police investigate whether badly injured man was thrown from second-story in Hyannis [HN Photos]
HYANNIS, MASSACHUSETTS — Barnstable police and a Hyannis Fire Department ambulance crew were dispatched to 215 Main Street around 1:40 a.m. Thursday after a resident reported that a neighbor may have been thrown from a second-floor balcony.
Responders found a badly injured man wedged against a chain-link fence in a very narrow alleyway. He was conscious and clearly in pain.
Crews secured him on a Reeves-type stretcher and carried him through the tight alley to an awaiting ambulance stretcher. He was transported to Cape Cod Hospital still conscious but suffering significant pain from the fall.
Once he was receiving advanced care, officers moved into investigative mode. A crime-scene photographer from the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit documented the scene at 215 Main Street and later at the hospital. Police interviewed possible witnesses.
The victim’s current condition was unknown, and the incident remains under investigation at the time of this report. [DEVELOPING]
